Destiny and career | Part 3

- how to rule the world

What do you think is more important to politicians? To be good at their job or to be liked? And what does it even mean to be a good politician? There are probably a million different answers to that question, because there are a million different concerns politicians are expected to cater to. Although that is clearly impossible, it has always seemed their goal to make it at least seem like they are finally the one to rise to the expectations, like they are the ones to finally make it right. And even if they don’t end up doing so, they will try everything in their power to make it at least look like that to a superficial observer; so usually: the voters. Probably the most important people in their lives, but often not for the reasons one would wish to be.

It is usually less people’s interests and issues that matter to politicians the most, but rather their opinion of them. In politics it is all about being liked, seeming sympathetic and trustworthy. To most voters - who are usually overwhelmed by the idea of getting into the gritty details of what the exact standpoints of each party are - the image and appearance of the candidate are crucial for the outcome of the election.

Especially now with the big elections in the US coming up, this is a factor that influences the voting, which is usually not liked to be admitted; since the candidates want to of course be voted for for the right reasons. But at the end of the day it is only the result that really counts, so why not take advantage of all the techniques?

In the third part of this series we will take a closer look at four politicians, arguably some of the most powerful and important people in the world right now, and talk about not only them as people, but more importantly them as public figures. How different are these two sides of them and how much can the image of someone cover up the true intentions underneath? As well as the question we have been asking ourselves through the entire course of this column: were they destined to be in these positions?

To not make this article overly long, I will try to stick to the basics. We will have a quick overview on each chart and then deepen our observations with the question in mind: how are they perceived and what image do they want to have and show to the world? For that we will mostly focus on the MC, the AC and the 10th house.

Wladimir Putin

07.10.1952 09:30; St. Petersburg (Russia)

Let’s start with one of the most powerful men in the world right now. Wladimir Putin fulfilled exactly the dreams of his country’s people back then when he was elected as their president in 1999. With a background as a secret agent he was viewed as some sort of James Bond; one who could keep a cool head and lead the country with conviction and ease. His chart reflects that perfectly. His activities in the background and the shadows is highlighted through the Stellium in the 12th house. To this day it seems like his intentions are unclear, his actions are usaully unexpected and can sometimes almost feel like a stab in the back. He is a very private person with a stone-like face and especially in his own country his acts and decisions are often being hidden and untransparent. Although this all sounds really confusing, his MC pierces through the fog like a shrill light. Not only does it fall into Leo, a fiery sign that knows little boundaries, is enduring and confident, but its kingly attributes mix with Pluto in a close Conjunction, making it hard for it to control itself. Pluto drives the hunger for power into overdrive in this position. The contradictions only double themselves here. It is a strong placement, making him seem powerful and undefeatable, almost untouchable, but it is also quite irrational and drives itself insane over small things, unwilling to ever back down or away from an opportunity to show off one's power.

A fire MC is not uncommon amongst leaders, since it often evokes the feeling of power and energy. Konrad Adenauer for example (Germany’s first Federal Chancellor) and Abraham Lincoln both share a Sagittarius MC, therefore they were likely perceived as people with a new and optimistic view on things. They wanted to revolutionize and had big plans.

Joe Biden

20.11.1942 08:30; Scranton (PA), USA

Funnily enough, you can find a Stellium in the 12th house in Joe Biden’s chart as well. But how come that he seems almost so polar opposite to Putin? Not only does his Ascendant fall into Sagittarius instead of Scorpio, which immediately gives him much more of a warmer and more open appearance than Putin’s cold and hard to read facade, but also his MC falls into the sign that follows the one of Putin’s. Virgo is a caring sign, that seems organized but sometimes a little too caught up in the theory and detail. Here we also have someone who is not specifically eager to air out all his laundry, but Biden is perceived as much more of a caring and rational figure. Earth sings are the other element that is very common to be found at the tip of a 10th house in a politicians chart, since it usually radiates a sense of security and stability. These people seem down to earth and find it easy to resonate with their voters.

But in his case this is softened by Neptune in the 10th house, which contradicts the assets of Virgo in this position. It makes him seem confused, unsure and everything but organized. Neptune is a dreamer who dilutes and fogs up anything that crosses its way. Especially also with the Asecendant in Sagittarius; I think it is not unlikely to assume that he wants to be percieved as a person with feelings and a vision. Especially also with Uranus and Saturn on his DC, it is clear that his dedication lies with the people around him and also shows how willing he is to take responsibility in their name; yet his approach might be unusual and even a bit unprepared.

Donald Trump

14.06.1946 10:54; New York (NY), USA

The fiery “go getter” energy that a lot of people are missing with Biden, the former president and once again candidate Donal Trump can definitely bring to the table. With his Ascendant in Leo and the Mars in close Conjunction he just so bursts with energy and pride, which can often even come off aggressive. Also the fixed star Regulus can be found here, which is also often referred to as the “King Star” so he is definitely a big persona and there is no question that the people around him can feel that as well.

That’s maybe also why the Taurus MC might be a little surprising to some people, since he does not seem like he is radiating the most comforting energy. But Earth signs are also infamous for being relentless and often a bit stuck in old ways. This probably gets mostly overshadowed by the Sun and Uranus in the 10th house. It is clear that he wants to be seen, his loud and often rather erratic persona is what gets people talking about him. Also in Conjunction with his Sun and Uranus in the 10th house and the North Node, so it is very likely that he feels a certain calling to be grand and let himself be known to the world. With the Moon in Sagittarius and no planets in any Earth sign, it is probably common for him to lose his footing, get lost in ideas and knit into conversations and situations that he likely started but lost control of on the way. He is more of a catalyst than someone who clings to facts and the safe way out. Like a motivational speaker who knows how to fire up his audience and bring a lot of charisma to the stage, even without having anything prepared beforehand, he knows how to capture attention and make sure that it stays on him. This is probably also why a lot of people view him as unreliable and too hot-headed to make serious decisions, but for someone with such a big self-esteem it is often hard to snap out of his own world and to not get his way with things.

Kamala Harris

20.10.1964 21:28; Oakland (CA), USA

Just like Donald Trump, Kamala Harris was born during a full moon. A sign usually that in this life, these people are ready to live up to their full potential. Imagine it a bit like a tank full of gas, whereas people born on a New Moon are said to have an empty tank and need this life to recharge and lay it low, every Moon phase that is waxing is already starting to fill up their tank, whereas in the waning phases the tank is slowly running low again.

What she sticks out with in this lineup has to be the positioning of planets in the chart. All three of the charts I have mentioned so far have quite a concentration in the eastern hemisphere of the chart, making their interests rather self-centered. These people are hard to convince of things they do not know and usually tend to live a bit in their own world. Kamala on the other side seems like a very intellectual, world open woman. This can be observed through the Sun in Conjunction with Mercury for example, or the Ascendant in Gemini. But the thing that particularly catches my attention when looking at her birth chart is the MC. Since it is really not common to find a Water sign at the tip of the 10th house of a president. Especially in Pisces this could mean similar effects like the Neptune in Biden’s chart. It is a very empathetic sign, which can be helpful to gain sympathy, but might seem a little weak to the people who crave for a strong hand as the head of their nation. Luckily so, Saturn in Conjunction with her MC comes for the rescue. It makes her seem serious and reliable. She is probably a very honest person with a big sense of responsibility. She likes to get to know new points of view (Sagittarius DC) and probably takes great pride and joy in discussions.

Also in terms of ambition she doesn’t fall flat, with her Moon in Aries in the 11th house she is ready to tackle sensitive matters that not only concern herself. As well as the Mars in Leo in the 3rd house, which gives her just the right amount of confidence and bite for debates and maybe later this year - an election.

Where Trump as well as Putin chose a loud voice and calculated, aimed techniques to rally up their audience, convincing them of their side; Harris and Biden seem to be taking a calmer approach to their campaigns, trying to win voters with empathy and relatability. It is always important to remember, and probably more so frustrating to the candidates, that whichever oh-so-sought-out image one chooses to portray, it will always just resonate with one specific group of people. So while one is busy trying to curate the perfect speech, the perfect persona, it is probably most important to not steer too far from one's own ideals and personality, since it is not always easy keeping up an act and still giving the people out there the feeling of being trustworthy and approachable.

At the end of the day it is hard to say that they were destined to end up in the position they are in now, since many people around the world probably share similar constellations and likely never made it close to even joining a political party. As always I will lead with my mantra and say that it is the person behind the chart that makes the decisions. Just like I had already mentioned in the article about the Pope, it takes dedication and conviction to chose something of such big importance as one’s career path. And that is certainly a quality all of the people in this lineup share. But at the end of the day the only person knowing their true intentions and what they want to truly achieve with all that power are themselves. And for us as voters it is now more important than anything to not only look at the people who have our fate at the tip of their fingertips with honest and truthful eyes, but seeing them as the people they are and not only the ones they want to portray.
